Personal Project // The café I am working at is experiencing reduced revenue as it transitions from summer to winter for the first time.

The goal of this project is to increase revenue by reaching a new target audience.

The research stage will take place over four days between 7:30 and 9:00 am. Three stints of user observations highlighted on the map (right) will help determine:  

-  Who frequents the café?

-  Who walks through the park?

-  How do people use the park?

-  Where do people pass through?

-  What is the interest in the food/drink at this time in the morning?

User Observations - Day One

Perceived Age Demographics - Day one

Slow start

Even distribution between different activities

Picks up at 8:00 am

8:00 am - 8:30 am

Kids generally travel in groups

Different routes for varying activity

Peaking near 8:30

8:30 am - 9:00 am

Almost all the school kids seem to have passed

Commuters and other activities have seemed more steady

7:30 seems to be always quite quiet

Some dog walkers and school kids but mainly perceived commuters

School kids activity always seems to pick up from close to 8 to around 8:30

Still a stream of commuters at 8:35

It does feel like it wanes close to 9:00 but people do still use the road behind the cafe

-  Focused on his task

-  In a bit of a rush

-  Mainly going to town or toward the station

Charlotte

The Dog Walker

-  Lovely place to walk the dogs in the morning

-  Strolling around relaxed

-  Loves activities in the park and often runs in Cassiobury as well

-  Mainly further into the park or coming out

-  Comes to Cassiobury to take part in the Park Run every Saturday

Bex

The Student

- Always walk through the park to get to school

-  Usually walking with a group of friends

-  Both secondary school and college students
